Volue completed the acquisition of dispoEnergy in March of this year. Now, some seven months later, the two teams are one, the integrations are finalized, and several new customers are signed across power and gas, with dispoEnergy delivering contracted ARR growth of 110% to date this year.

In the article below, Helmut Spindler, General Manager, Trading & Optimization at Volue, and Philipp Sackl, VP dispoEnergy at Volue, discuss how the two organizations became one, what the market response tells them about demand for cloud-native scheduling, and why each new market will now require less time to enter than the last.
“Over the past year our customer base has grown significantly, split almost evenly between power and gas, and more than half of that growth landed in the last three months. We have further deals in final negotiations on both sides. Part of that is credibility. We know buyers of scheduling software are buying a promise that a deadline will be met every day, and that promise now carries Volue’s resources and expertise behind it,” explains Philipp.
“The customers coming to us are either new to a market or expanding into new ones, and what they want is scheduling that already includes their exchange positions or integrates natively with their trading platform. That’s what we deliver,” he adds.

dispoEnergy has landed inside Volue technically and culturally, and it happened fast.
The clearest proof is technical. The completed link with Volue Multi Market Trader lets customers synchronize their NEMO exchange results directly from Volue’s Algotrading Solutions, VATP and PowerBot into scheduling, with no manual re-keying between trade and schedule. It removes a step that used to introduce delay and risk into every trading day.
Going from close to a live power customer in under two months was as much an integration achievement as a commercial one, as contracts, hosting, support and delivery all had to run as one company before introduction. “We worked hard as part of Volue to deliver on these requirements and I’m pleased to say we met them,” explains Phillip.
“Setting up scheduling and nomination in a new market is genuinely hard work the first time, and for some time after that, because every country brings its own rules and its own requirements, like different exchange formats, different regulatory reporting, and different conventions for how a nomination is meant to look. It is unglamorous work, and there is no way around it,” explains Helmut.
“Once the first customer in a market is live, however, the next one always becomes easier than the last. The rules are already encoded, the connections are already built, and the team already knows how to overcome challenges along the way. Together with dispoEnergy, Volue is now reaching the part of that curve where proven capability repeats at speed rather than being rebuilt from scratch each time,” he continues.

The shift matters most for the participants who could least afford the old way of doing things: smaller and fast-growing utilities, independent traders, and asset operators without the resources to run a lengthy integration project simply to meet an obligation they cannot avoid.
Set dispoEnergy alongside Volue Scheduler (DeltaXE) and, for the first time, the scheduling and nomination portfolio is now complete. There is real depth for the largest and most complex participants, who need to handle scale and edge cases smaller platforms were never built for, and a fast, cloud-native option with dispoEnergy for the smaller and fast-growing utilities, traders and asset operators.
Helmut continues: “Of course dispoEnergy existed before we acquired it, but the power capability arrived just afterwards, so in practice we launched a new product in the middle of an integration, and the market response has told us how much demand there was for a next-generation scheduling solution.”
“The hardest thing for any founder is scaling commercial traction, and that is exactly what a platform like Volue provides,” adds Philipp.
From here, the work will now focus on increased speed and reach. There will be more markets, faster, deeper integration across the rest of the Volue platform, building on the Multi Market Trader link, and more capability added.
Helmut frames the destination in three parts: “We want to build teams that feel genuinely part of the company, develop a product that gets easier to deploy with every market we enter, and deliver a nomination and scheduling solution that works for power and gas customers, whatever their size. There is more to do, as there always will be, but the direction is set, and the hardest part, becoming one team on one platform, is behind us. We have a market-leading solution for the sector and it’s one that Philipp and I look forward to enhancing over the coming months.”
