Statnett stops major grid connections in the north — what does this mean for the rest of Norway and data centres?

There's a growing gap in how the grid's real capacity is understood: local grid companies argue there's available capacity, while Statnett disagrees. Local actors are pushing for conditional connection agreements — terms customers are willing to accept — but Statnett has so far said no.

Tor Reier Lilleholt, Head of Analysis at Volue, will open the debate with live simulations: what would actually happen if we increased capacity in key cross-sections? What does the data show about where the real constraints are?

Kraftmarkedene under press: Hva må forbedres?

Are electricity prices set correctly? Power markets have served us well since the early 1990s — but the energy system is changing fast. A more variable generation mix, electrification of industry and transport, and growing demand are all testing the limits of today's market design.

Leading experts gather to discuss whether the current market model is fit for the future, what regulatory changes are needed, and how to balance security of supply, climate targets, and consumer interests.
