This folder contains everything you need to explore, understand, and begin applying a field-tested implementation of ArcGIS Utility Network for balanced three-phase distribution grids. It is the result of real-world experience from two of Europe’s most advanced DSOs — Elvia in Norway and N1 in Denmark — combined with the modelling expertise built up at Volue through multiple large-scale UN migrations.
The intent is straightforward: to let you stand on the shoulders of those who have already done this work, so that you spend less time discovering what is achievable and more time making it operational. Everything here is shared as a gesture of goodwill, with the aim of accelerating consistent, high-quality UN adoption across the industry.
The recommended starting sequence is simple:
| Component | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Implementing ArcGIS Utility Network for Balanced Three Phase Grids.pdf | The full modelling guide for ArcGIS Utility Network on balanced three-phase grids. |
| Volue Implementation Guide – Attribute Metadata.xlsx | Detailed attribute reference: labels, descriptions and domain notes for every field. |
| Asset Package Template.gdb | Empty asset package aligned to D-Configurations and D-Rename – for use as a starting point in new implementations. |
| Asset Package – Sample Data.gdb | The populated VolueVille sample dataset as an asset package, ready to load into a UN geodatabase. |
| Asset Package – Sample Data (without LG Connectivity).gdb | The populated VolueVille sample dataset as an asset package, ready to load into a UN geodatabase. In this version of the asset package line group connectivity associations have been deleted. |
| VolueVille.geodatabase | The VolueVille sample dataset in geodatabase format, with the Utility Network enabled. |
| VolueVille.geodatabase | The VolueVille sample dataset in geodatabase format, with the Utility Network enabled – this implementation without line group connectivity. |
| Volue Implementation Guide – Sample Data Project File.aprx | Pre-configured ArcGIS Pro project with map views, layer groups, and symbology aligned to the implementation guide. Open this file to explore the dataset. |
| Advocating Proposed ArcGIS UN Implementation.pptx | Slide deck for internal engagement of management, enterprise architects, and GIS professionals at DSOs and partner organisations considering or evaluating the ArcGIS Utility Network approach. |
The full terms governing use of this dataset and implementation guide are set out in Chapter 6.4 of the Implementation Guide (“Gesture of Goodwill, Liability, and Permitted Use”). Please read that section before proceeding. The key points are:
